Thats an awfully nice version of the liberal's version of the story.
These guys are not liberal or conservative. They have some Bush-Kerry stuff that is also hilarious, and even-handed. They are irreverent to everybody equally.
Extremely funny, because it's sadly true.
The reason a lot of humor works is that it is something unexpected, yet should have been expected. You are "surprised that you are surprised".
