Lincoln Commercial Star Gets Big Bucks from Farm Programs?

Now why would a good old salt of the earth type like Mr. Brantley put aside his no-doubt "conservative" convictions to vote for a duplicitous pol like Senator Blanche Lincoln? Well, an internet search reveals that Brantley Farming Co was the top recipient of farm subsidies in Lonoke Cnty for the years 1995-2006 at $6,838,192. SIX MILLION DOLLARS! Hey, Lincoln herself would sell out for a lot less.

Nice catch Mark! Don't they vette these people, or the know and don't care. Either way, small segment of Arkansas is effected and old leather-face seems very sincere, but you can't overcome so many other things. These day's ypu cannot say or think farmer without subsidy and right now, that is a dirty word.

True. But farmers are Sen. Lincoln's base. They helped put her in office in the first place. They are very loyal and this ad will hit home for them. Halter doesn't have a single connection with that section of the voters.

major problem with the moving arkansas to the right on fiscal / small government issues.

This needs more discussion on how to inform educate the folks who have the chains(subsidies) on them.

By accepting the chains, it affects the whole political climate of the state.

Any thoughts?

Old joke:

Why are farmers when they die buried only 12" deep?

Answer- so they can still get their government handout :)

That was low. While you all may be in North West Arkansas and safely removed from the delta and the hardships we farmers endure every day. You don't need to go bashing us farmers.

Indeed, everyone likes to talk about government largess and creeping socialism, until it's their particular ox being gored.

not bashing the farmers.

I am bashing the Gov't for creating a welfare state in a way to the AG Sector of the Economy in the US.

AG becomes dependent on Big Gov Handount and must now vote to keep Big Gov't Handout Supporting Candidates(D or R) in Power.

Hence we get Blanche & all else that she brings.

Hence we get her 60th vote on Senate Healthscare Bill, Sponsor of Card Check,......

Blanche could have voted the other way like her employers here in Arkansas told here to, but NOOOOOO!

She is beholden to the Barry Harry Show in DC rather than the values she campaigned on in 2004.

Thus putting Gov't run healthcare on the backs of the taxpayers both from a financial standpoint and a loss of freedom standpoint.

BTW,My Whole family is either in ag or has been in the past so joke is on me & my peeps too.

Thing is its not a joke when it breeds acceptance to BIG Gov and the path to Gov controlled economy(Socialism to sugar coat it).

Big Gov breeds more Big Gov.

Everybody's got their own cereal bowl they want to protect.

And by voting to protect your Govment Handout destroys the very foundations of what made this State/ Country Great.

That is why things never change.

If we keep thinking here in arkansas the way we have we will get 6 more years of Blanche/Halter or a Big Gov't Lovin' GOP Candidate.

Government Healthcare, Cap & Tax, Govment Motors(GM), Govment Control of Local Schools, EPA ad Nauseum, Govment Picking Winners and Losers on Wall Street-Bailouts, TARP.

When the GOP(Bush,Tarp,McCain,et al) does these things when it is in power, it makes it easier for the Democrats to do the same thing only bigger and faster, more freedom absconding way.

Good Catch Mark. Its not that they don't vette Mr. Brantley, they(Blanche,Beltway Bobs,Insiders, Establishment yeah hoos) don't think the people will do the heavy lifting to look into what is really going on here as Mark has done. They punk the voter out here thinking we won't connect the dots or we will connect the dots but won't/can't do anything about it. They are right if we don't do anything about it.
