LRSD Bans "Discrimination" for "Sexual Orientation" or "Gender Identity"!

LRSD Board member Tony Rose is reported to be the driving force behind the policy change that now makes it much easier for gay, lesbian, transvestite, cross-dressing and transgendered individuals to teach your second grade children.

The Arkansas Times J. Barnett Reed is reporting that the Little Rock School District has voted to ban discrimination for any "sexual orientation" or "gender identity".......

The Little Rock School District’s new non-discrimination policy:

“The commitment of the Little Rock School District to the most fundamental principles of academic freedom, equality of opportunity, and human dignity requires that decisions involving students and employees be based on individual merit and be free from discrimination in all its forms.

“It is the policy of the Board of Education that there will be no discrimination because of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, sexual identity, age, national origin, or handicap/disability in the placement, instruction, and guidance of pupils; the employment, assignment, training, or promotion of personnel; the provision and maintenance of physical supplies and equipment; the development and implementation of the curriculum, including the activities program; and in all matters relating to the instruction, supervision, administration and Board policy development.”

Key Tony Rose quote from the article, "“I also thought in the dawning days of the 21st century we needed to make sure it’s enshrined in policy that we’re not going to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity,” he said. “I’m a very strong advocate of civil rights for all, and that includes making sure no one is deprived of any rights based on who they sleep with or are interested in sleeping with.”

Question for Mr. Rose: What if their "sexual identity" is that of a pedophile? What if they are interested in sleeping with pre-pubescent children?

The policy was implemented without protest, because it was done in a low key manner. This tells me that not one member of the Little Rock School Board was willing to alert members of the community that this was in the works.

Apparently a crossdresser who thinks they are a male on Tuesdays and Thursdays but a female on other days, should not be discriminated against. If they have three more hours of education classes than another applicant then they are "more qualified" for that elementary ed position!

Here is a news snippet about someone Tony Rose thinks should not be "discriminated against" based on who she sleeps with....

TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida teacher charged with having sex with a minor pleaded guilty on Tuesday to two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior as part of a plea deal.

The deal provides that Greco Middle School teacher Debra Lafave, 25, will not serve time in jail in connection with multiple sex acts with a 14-year-old student unless she violates the terms of the plea agreement, which include seven years of probation.

Perhaps the ex-priests drummed out of the Catholic Schools can be hired at LRSD.

Sigh. It used to be a good thing to be "discriminating".

We need to take this issue on, but...

Flee the public/government schools. Don't let your children be their social guinea pigs.

I am sure that Little Rock Christian, Little Rock Catholic, and the Central Arkansas Home School Community appreciate Mr. Rose validating their ministry.

When people flee the LR schools, the district will just petition the Supreme Court to raise our taxes to make up for the "lost revenue" for all the students leaving.

The way it is going, the courts will oblige, and also order Christian and Homeschool Students to report back to their government schools!

I can't turn my back on the public schools. Even if I don't have a child in them, they are still full of children. Children who deserve to be protected with sounder reasoning and more "discrimination" than Mr. Rose seems able to provide.

With regard to protecting children left inside doomed public schools: There's only so much you can do beyond what their parents are willing to do.

The fundamental problem isn't what the school administrators are doing, it's the fact that a socialistic government school system exists in this country. If we truly want to help the kids left behind, we must get rid of the whole dang system.

Was the school system a problem in the 1920's, 30's, 40's and 50's?

The philosophy of a school matters. We have gone from one that worked to one that does not. We have gone from community schools to government schools whose strings are really pulled on the federal level.

My position is that they are still doing well in some areas, but have taken the wrong course. I want a return to course- which includes a mix of various types of schools. I take it you would rather scuttle the ship?

The early public school system worked only because it hadn't been in place long enough to achieve its goals-- the brainwashing of America's children by the government worshipping left. The longer they are allowed to continue, the more effective they are in their goals. The federalization of education is currently being implemented. The system is getting worse, not better. This latest outrage is only the tip of the iceberg.

Trying to reform government schools is a losing battle.

Mark you should be ashamed. To compare people who are gay or lesbian to pedophelia is wrong. It shows your ignorance on this subject.

Children need to learn values at home. I agree wholeheartedly with that principle. However, children need to also learn respect for others. The decision by the Little Rock School Board is teaching respect and continuing EEOC Policy.

See you have blurred the lines here. You are using an emotional appeal to stir people to your side. The problem with straight emotional appeals is that they are like flames with lighter fluid poured on burning coals. They flare up and create some heat, but soon die out.

Also, you have to recognize whether you like it or not, our nation is not a theocracy, but a representative democracy.

Finally, sir, you do a great disservice to Senator Holt, who you work for, by demagoguing this and other issues. If Senator Holt is the nominee for Lt. Governor, he will never be able to appeal to the broad base it takes to win an election. But hey, do what you think is right. I just know I have won more elections for my clients and the final logic should be this :

Does one enact lasting change from within, or from outside the system?

Example :

Douglas Wilder vs. Al Sharpton
