Markham Group Gets a Facelift (Roger's Mayor Run off)

Greg Hines is in the runoff for Roger's Mayor with Kurt Maddox. Maddox informed voters of how leftist Hine's campaign consultant's are. He pointed to their work for Nancy Pelosi, and their pictures of Barack Obama. Much of that information has now been scrubbed from the site. Cover-up in progress. But team Maddox got a screen shot of their client list before they pulled it (and claimed to the media that the list was privileged information).

How many times do people have to explain to you that Mr. Hines and Mr. Neaville grew up together, and neither lifelong friendships nor the Rogers mayoral race have anything to do with your stupid divisive partisan politics?

I don't buy the story as a legitimate explanation. I have friends that are liberals. I'd hire them to cut my hair, but not to run my political campaign.

Personnel is policy. If you hire left, you will govern left. Hines has not been in a position to hire. If this is a foretaste of what the city will get then it is in trouble. Hines does not hire by who is the best fit for the job, but rather by who his friends are. That smacks of cronyism. The idea that this is an acceptable reason to hire a firm backing the same people the residents of Rogers are sick of does not fly.

Voters: "He's helping the people who are destroying our country!"

Hines: "It's OK, we're friends".

Well, I'm glad we got that out in the open. You want a mayor who will use political litmus tests to make city contract and hiring decisions.

I want a mayor who cares about ALL Rogers residents, no matter their politics. That's why I'm voting for Greg Hines.

Of course I want a Mayor whose hiring decisions reflect the values of the city. Litmus tests have value, that's why they were invented and are used.

And correct policy DOES show concern for all residents of the city. Cronyism does NOT show a concern for all residents of the city, but rather demonstrates preferential treatment- not on who has the correct ideas but rather who is best buddies with Greg Hines.

The choice is clear, Maddox will hire based on policy and ideas fitting the conservative culture of the city, Hines will hire based on who is friends with Greg Hines.

And since you got me going.....

The subject of this story was not the original incident, but the cover-up. That list was on their website for all to see, until it became a liability because they were trying to fool Rogers residents about the true nature of their clinentel. Then they pulled the list and told a reporter that is was privileged info. That's the sort of folks Hines hired. Not that the reporter seemed to mind.

I also cannot agree with the premise that a Mayor's race has no relation to partisan politics. The Mayor's office is about a lot more than filling potholes.

For example, there is going to be tremendous pressure on city and county governments to participate in so-called "green initiatives" that are going to separate people from their money and regulate them in the use of their own property. That's just one example, but you watch, it's going to be a big one.

Yeah...so, I'm still stuck on the litmus tests part. I'm not sure how Maddox will be able to hire only conservatives, since political beliefs are a protected status under Equal Employment Opportunity law. Contracts are regulated to prevent that kind of abuse as well. But, you know, good luck with that. At the very least, you can always make a nice big "No Liberals Allowed" sign and tack it on the front of City Hall.

Even on positions that determine policy? Better tell Obama that he has to make his next zillion hires conservatives to make up for the last two years and comply with the act.

In anticipation with this policy change, I'd like to put in my application for ambassador to Kenya.
