House Votes College Aid to Illegal Aliens

In a move to show that their generosity with your money is not limited to lavishing it on special interests at home, but also extends to people's from the entire Earth, the Arkansas House voted to give finnacial aid to illegal aliens. To be eligible they must manage to evade authorities for three years and graduate from an Arkansas school. Their reward for sucessfully flouting our laws is that you will be required, under threat of imprisonment should you refuse, to pay the college expenses of foreign nationals illegally in our country. It must warm the heart of many Arkansans to know that even if they can no longer afford to send their own children to college they can, nay they must, pay for the college education of foreigners who invaded our country without permission......

(continued)

The bill was sponsored by Little Rock Democrat Joyce Elliot, but was also strongly pushed by Republican Governor Mike Huckabee, who viewed the 63-31 vote as a civil rights victory similar to the 1957 desegregation crissis.

Details are still sketchy about how forcing Arkansas, even those who don't wish to attend college, to pay for the college education of strangers who are citizens of other lands is a "civil rights victory".

During "debate", only those in favor of the bill spoke. Though a few voted against the bill, no one, not one representative either Democrat or Republican, could take the trouble to speak out against the bill before it was voted on. It does my heart good to think of all of those dedicated state representatives safeguarding my wallet against frivilous and unnesscesary government spending.

From here the bill goes to the Senate. If it is approved there, the Governor is certain to sign it. The Governor will not miss an opportunity to show just what a generous man he is with your money.

How else can all of those liberal college professors stay employed? We have to force people to pay for everyone's "free" college. IF they had to pay their own money, the weakly motivated might not go, then how would all those liberal professors keep making 80K a year?

It's more than tution money for illegals, it is also a welfare program for liberal college professors.

I am a Ph.D. student at one of our state universities. I had some trouble with the law in my life and own personal troubles. Now I am middle aged and starting over. I have fought hard and struggled to get where I am now. NO ONE payed my way. I have 2 children and a wife(who is also in a college that no one is paying for except us)to feed on a pitiful GA's salary. I have to borrow more money than I make in a year to survive, and I find this appalling that our government would put non citizens above those whom they would put in jail for not supporting them by paying taxes. I have always been a staunch Hukabee fan. Heck, I even drove his wife around in a parade when I was younger. But, I think it is time for a change. It's time to vote some one to office that cares about his own people, rather than some one else's. I personally know several very intelligent people who can't attend college because they cannot afford it. Maybe they sould renounce their citizenship.

Unfortunately, it seems that instead of following laws that are imposed upon its own people...the state legislators think they are above the people they govern.

Had they posed this question to the public or may any type of public statement prior to the last election....I wonder how many of those same people would be there to consider this law? Instead...our politicians continue to practice the art of deception to get elected and then do whatever they want until the next election comes.

Arkansas is joked about around the nation. It doesn't have the best reputation....maybe it's because instead of leading...our leaders follow....

Think about this....what if you are a really bright but poor kid who lives in the Delta Region and you can't get a scholarship because...unfortunately the state just doesn't have enough money for everyone to go to college; yet you find out your state is willing to pay the tuition of FEDERAL FELONS.

The ACLU who is pushing this...might find itself in a conundrum over whose CIVIL RIGHTS they should fight for. Illegal Aliens or poor African Americans????

In fact, it's amazing that Ms. Elliot didn't fight for more scholarships to be awarded to plain ol' poor kids from Arkansas instead of sponsoring a bill based upon misguided emotions about racism.

They wonder why they can't keep the best and brightest in Arkansas???
