Yikes! Demozette Hateful on Holt

Have you read the latest invective from the Democrat-Gazette’s editorial pages? It was not so much an editorial column as it was a tantrum in print. I am not talking about the one where Kane Webb expressed displeasure and amazement that the Catholic Church would actually appoint a Pope who upholds the teachings and traditions of their faith-even though liberal media types don’t approve of such appointments. This is yet another situation where the editorial board expresses even more strident outrage that there are people out there who do not genuflect to their post-modernist view of the world. In this case the target is one of their favorite people to fear and loathe- mild mannered and soft-spoken State Senator Jim Holt of Springdale.

Here is an example of where they compare the devoted family man to the murderous horror movie doll “Chucky”- “Or maybe, like the headline-grabber he is, the state senator and amateur demagogue from Springdale waited for a slow news day. Whatever, he’s ba-a-a-ack !”

Here is one of the many times they claim Holt is another Orval Faubus, “The last thing the people of this state need is for another demagogue with a lot of political ambition to race-bait this state again—and send us all the way back to the Furious Fifties……….”

And here is a quote where they finally rid their conscience’s of any guilt for their assaults on a man who has constantly appealed to them to be reasonable, “……..No matter how many times he explains that he’s just misunderstood, or responding to constituents’ concerns like a courageous public servant should. . . . The answer is still. . . NO! Because this is not the way to deal with illegal immigration. This is a way to foster fear and resentment and bad feelings……..”

Let me ask you the reader, which side is acting in a way to foster “fear, resentment and bad feelings?” Is it Holt with his modest proposal that has already been approved in other places like Arizona, or is it the Demozette Editorial Board itself, who cannot find enough ugly things to say about a man who is simply advancing proposals that the vast majority of the people of this state want? Fifty-six percent of the voters in Arizona approved a proposal (Proposition 200) virtually identical to the one Holt is proposing. Are they all hateful racists? Are they all Orval Faubus types? If they are racists, who are they racist against? Forty-Seven percent of the Hispanic voters in Arizona also voted for Proposition 200! In the Demozette’s warped view of the world, that makes them hateful racists who are prejudiced against Mexicans. By the way, if you also think the world’s illegal aliens should not have access to your paycheck, then the Demozette must think you are a hateful racist too. It is amazing how many people they can accuse of being haters- without ever considering themselves as such.

The Demozette writes, “……Jim Holt’s brainstorm would give folks a right to hate—in the name of enforcing the law, or fighting illegality, or upholding states’ rights. (Or was that the cover used in ’57?)”

The fact is, I already have a right to hate. So do you and so does the Democrat Gazette. I have found that every caring person in this world hates something. The question is WHAT shall we hate? Jim Holt has decided that he hates welfare fraud and aliens violating the property rights of the people he is serving. The Democrat Gazette has decided that it hates Jim Holt, and it hates you too if you are one of those stubborn traditionalists who want to preserve Western Civilization. The enlightened folks in the liberal media seem to think that all civilizations and cultures are equal. That Carrib Head Hunters have no better or worse a manner of life than Victorian England. People with that view of life are aghast that some people actually consider their culture and civilization worth defending.

This is an ivy-tower view of life. The world is full of barbaric cultures. If you are not prepared to defend your culture, then be prepared to accept barbarism. If we let anyone in this country regardless of their character and culture then soon enough our country will look like theirs. We will have the same absence of property rights and respect. We will have the same level of government corruption. We will have the same crime rate (in Los Angeles county 95% of all outstanding murder warrants are for illegal aliens). We will have the same level of disease. If large groups of people live together with no unity or goal of assimilation (as is the case with most illegals) then history teaches us that even civil war is a possibility. This is not fear-mongering, it is fact-mongering. And what the Democrat Gazette is doing is hate-mongering. It is trying to end the debate with a string of ugly insults rather than appeal to fact or reason. We are all descendents of immigrants. We don’t want to keep all the immigrants out. We only want to be the ones to decide which ones are allowed to come in to our own country.

The one attempt at using fact and reason in the editorial was the claim that the initiative was not needed because illegal aliens are already denied all services that the initiative would cover (even though they also claimed that it was not written yet). To the contrary, Senator Holt reports that when Proposition 200 passed in Arizona, over 50 state government services were conserved for legal citizens only. Also remember HB 1525. That act is still on the back burner. It would give education benefits at taxpayer expense to illegal aliens. If the legislature does get stupid and pass that thing in a special session, Holt’s initiative would undo it.

It would take more time than I have to correct all of the outrageous distortions in this editorial. It is always easier to spray accusations out like machine gun fire than it is to correct the damage from each bullet. So I won’t try. I will simply assure you that the Democrat Gazette’s editorial board is not an accurate source of information on the subject of Jim Holt. They have become obsessive about attacking the man. They cannot fathom that this is not 1957 and Jim Holt is not Orval Faubus. Pray for them if you have the grace for it, pity them if you have the heart for it, but do not, no matter how much they repeat themselves, take any of their bilge seriously.

Maybe all of this negative, fair and balanced bias towards Jim Holt from the Demozette will work in his favor. The more insane drivel they write will eventually do them in. The Demozette's character assasination squad may have worked once to some extent when they went after Gunner DeLay but a lot time has passed since then and and many have wised up to the way that Demozette conducts business. I saw nothing of any factual nature in that piece of garbage they call an editorial and after all it is thier duty to back up what they say with facts. Joe Friday would say "just the facts Ma'mm." don't think well see that any time soon from the Demozette.

People who's minds are still growing tend to construct new mental categories for the things they observe. Older minds tend to assign new events to existing categories, sometimes without merit. Greenburg just can't seem to fathom that this is not 1957 and keeping criminal aliens out is not the same thing as suppressing racial minorities. This is a different situation, the 60's are over.

Senator Jim Holt is one of the most decent, Christ-like men I know. I would urge every born-again Christian in Arkansas, regardless of political affiliation, to hold him before the LORD in prayer.

In these days of moral erosion, we in Arkansas desperately need more men like Jim Holt in government.

As for the Democrat-Gazette and its editorial board, I would remind them of the recent circulation loss of the Los Angeles Times. Don't say, "It can't happen here."

If American Family Association can successfully boycott Proctor and Gamble like they did, how difficult would it be to find "fair and balanced" news somewhere other than the Dem-Gaz?
