A usually reliable source has told us that attorney Chuck Banks is going to enter the crowded Republican Primary for Lt. Governor.

Banks is from central Arkansas. He has little name recognition among rank and file, but is supposed to have access to a lot of big money people.

Our normally reliable source got his name confused with another fellow earlier today, and we apologize for any inconvienince this might have caused.

Will Banks enter the race? Who does it help, who does it hurt?

Opinions wanted!

A central Arkansas candidate who brings out the socially liberal wing of the party helps Rockefeller some.

We don't know much about where Banks stands on the key issues- part of that is because he is a relative unknown outside of high-roller circles, but part of it is troubling in itself.

I want someone who has stood up for conservative issues even at the expense of media heat, not someone who rides the fence until the last minute.

I knew Chuck Banks back in the 80's, when the Republican Party of Arkansas was truly Conservative. Since then many party loyalist hav been willing to drift to the center. I don't know if this is the applies to him. But I do remember we was a wonderful person.
However I realize that you dont vote for someone because you like them as a person.

Chuck Banks was appointed by Ronald Reagan to be U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas back in the mid to late 80's. He's a very successful attorney in Little Rock and has contributed and raised a lot of money for the Republican Party and Republican candidates through the years. He is conservative and will bring a lot of class and credibility to this race.

Interesting. Is your source a good one? The position is a better fit for Bank's resume, but why would he get in after LaGrone just entered that race?

Right you are, my mistake.

Actually, that makes a lot of sense now. The Republicans would spread out their quality candidates for the top offices. I sense someone's guiding hand behind all of this.

Yes... As an AG candidate, Banks' Trial Lawyer Association ties are a non-issue... In another race like LG, it could become a problem.
