Word has just come out, Baptist Pastor Jim LaGrone will not run for Lt. Governor. Instead, he will run for Secretary of State against Charlie Daniels!

What do you think this means for the political landscape? Who are the winners and losers from this event?

Well, I think that it helps the other central arkansas candidates - Rick Calhoun and Chuck Banks the most and therefore probably hurts Matayo and Holt.

The preacher is jumping ship to do "God's work" of making sure elections are fair. Sounds like he'll take anything he can get.

He has already changed his website.

Still probably a good decision for him, and most importantly conservatives and the Republicanparty. I applaud it.

We need these quality candidates spread out. True, many of the lower offices will be difficult to win but this state will always be controlled by the Democrats so long as we refuse to even challenge them.

There will only be one winner of the Lt. Gov. race. It would be much better for Arkansas if some of the other candidates would move down the ballot...and those that are entering soon ought to consider the move also.

Daniels will be a tough person to run against. He has never lost a race.

I think that Mr. LaGrone has been very admirable in how he handled this. He clearly is showing himself to be a team player.

If Mr. LaGrone was fleeing to a race he felt like he could win, he would not have chosen to take on Charlie Daniels. He made a tough choice and changed to take on a very tough Democrat opponent. Kudos!

The objective of OPERATION YELLOW ELEPHANT is to recruit College Republicans and Young Republicans to serve as infantry. They demanded this war and now viciously support it. It's only right that they also experience it.
Please all God fearing draft age republicans go sign up

I agree it helps Calhoun from a geographical standpoint.

Was Win Rockefeller at that event last night? He is the one missing. Missing a single event does not mean much, but lately he has been missing them all!

Also, LaGrone dropping out helps, you gessed it- Holt. They were competing for the same campaign workers- now those folks can work on BOTH campaings. It is a win-win for Christian Conservatives.

Good question Pachy. Who knows Calhoun or some of those Eagle Forum folks? Holt is staying in the race. I feel confident of that, so what is Calhoun thinking?

One of you in a position to ask, please do so and enlighten the rest of us!

Winrock was not only at the event, but he spoke... They apparantly shafted Asa! with platform time, he was not on the program.

Hmmmmm. And they had Matayo lead the "pledge of alligence". The more conservative candidates appear to be getting short-changed. It will just be a good excuse to avoid such events in the future. Everyone there has already made up their mind.

Asa gave 25,000 dollars and Win only gave 10,000 dollars so I don't think that was the reason. I know Jim Lagrone sold alot of tickets.
