I had noticed over the last few months that Attorney General Mike Bebee was appearing on TV quite a bit. At the time I thought, "That guy is using our money to get his face on TV because he is running for Governor. I wonder how much of the taxpayer's money he is spending promoting himself?"
I now know the answer. It was $250,000. To me the kind of campaign one runs is indicative of the way one will perform in office. If one misuses taxpayer money for personal gain while running, one is likely to do the same in office.
A lot of old time Democrats are conservative people with good values. But it is not enough to personally have the right values if they empower corruption through the ballot box. They have a responsibility to see what today's democratic party has become. I hope they live up to it at last.
A return of the Democrat's to the Governor's mansion is looking more and more like a return to the corruption of the Clinton-Tucker years. Years when spots on the Highway Commission were for sale and the indictments were coming down.
...and if some demohack wants to point out that most of the money came from fines and not taxes....don't bother. Once Arkansas collected it then it was the taxpayer's money, not money to promote Mike Bebee.

Beebe has made millions personally at the expense of taxpayers, why should he care about spending taxpayers money to campaign.
How about Governor Huckabee in 1998 and 2002. He did EXACTLY the same thing.

Beebe voted for the Huck Tv bill to prohibit that kind of thing then he does the same thing at a far more alarming rate than Huckabee.
Beebe would be the most corrupt Governor in Arkansas history and we have had a felon serve as Governor.
Too many anonymouses (?) on this thread...
