U of A Officials Skip Rent, Demand Building for $10

I was shocked to read a Morning News report that U of A Fayetteville has skipped out on paying rent to the city for use of the continuing education center for the last two years. They also maintain the city should sell them the multi-million dollar facility for $10.

Read the article and see if you can come to a different conclusion, but I am amazed at the hubris of the university.

sounds like their was an agreement and the U of A is just following thru to me. What does it really matter either way it is taxpayers who paid for it

The agreement that was in writing does not jibe with what they are saying about it. And the "big deal" is that public money should be allocated by the Democratic process, not the appointed ruler of some public fiefdom.

Mark, I was wandering who you think the pubic fiefdom is? Both I hope. Have you seen the City of Fayetteville's new "impact fees".

I guess all I have is the newspaper reports word on the matter. Maybe it is a mistake to put too much faith in that.

I started AW so that the real story could get out on some of these things. The paper made it sound like, whatever oral agreement was made, the written agreement was that the school would have to pay a large sum for the facility because of the amount of money that the city spent on it. What is the truth as you know it?

The truth is that the UA Chancellor is not to be trusted. I was appalled when he tried to get the building for $10. Not surprised, but appalled. To compound his unethical behavior, he tried to ignore the written contract and present testimony by two former UA employees who had blatant conflicts of interest. It is disgusting.

Thank you for that report. If this develops enough, we may need a new thread on it.
