Fighting the Natural Progession of Things

Thomas Jefferson noted that "it is the natural progression of things for government to grow and liberty to yield ground".

The "liberty caucus" in the Arkansas Legislature is a mighty small group this year, while the "government gaining ground" caucus is larger than ever. It includes many who campaigned as "conservative Republicans" and "conservative Democrats".

Let's look at some of the key votes. SB 27 was the probably the biggest spending bill of the session, and it was done with f;awed language that assumes it is right and proper for the courts to order the legislature to spend more of your money. The "Liberty Caucus" in the 100 member house on this bill is as follows....

In the Senate the "Liberty Caucus" was... Altes Holt Womack

Issue Two: The bill that has the potential to spend much more money than that was SB1. It makes immediate and permanent the state-takeover of facilities that the local folks were handling before. To bring things up to the new "standards" will require an immediate infusion of 2.3 BILLION of your tax dollars, a state study commission has determined.

Of course local folks when spending their own share of the dough will spend it a lot more effieciently than educrats in a distant capital. One example after another of wasteful spending from this takeover have been documented. Most states leave this issue to local control. So did we until a year ago. This bill seals the takeover.

Here are the four house members who are in the "Liberty Caucus" on this issue...

Key Lamoureux Mathis Nichols

The Senate "Liberty Caucus" consumes exactly four bytes of computer memory: HOLT.

This might also be called the "foresight caucus", composed of those legislators able to comprehend that the way to avoid tomorrow's tax increase is to avoid today's spending programs. The amount required almost assures a major tax increase in 07.

Issue Three: The "Government Caucus" decided that it was smarter than that silly old "free market" and decided that they would set a minimum wage for every employer in the state. Won't that cost jobs and hurt people on fixed incomes? Of course, but it is ahead in the polls!

The "Liberty Caucus" in the House consisted of a lone gunman. Congratulations Rep. Johnny Keys.

In the Senate, Jim Holt was once again the only thing between the "Liberty Caucus" and extinction.

Issue Four:

The "Government Caucus" was feeling so froggy that they decided to tell every business owner in the state what otherwise legal activities they could allow on what is (snicker) their own property. Presumably a brigade of "smoke" police will be hired and trained to enforce the new smoking ban.

Here is the House "Liberty Caucus" who did not want to "impose their religion" on every business owner in the state..(we are delighted to report the caucus swelled to almost one third of the reps on this issue)...

Abernathy Adams Adcock Anderson Boyd Burris
Cooper Cowling Creekmore Davenport Dunn L. Evans
Everett Flowers Green Harris J. Hutchinson T. Hutchinson
Jackson Kenney Mathis Nichols Norton Pace
Pate Pyle Ragland Rankin Schulte Verkamp
Wells Wyatt

While in the Senate less than one tenth of the chamber voted for "Freedom Even if I Don't Agree With It"....

Holt B. Johnson Taylor

That is my report. Do with it what you will....

I would like to point out a situation that I just became informed of. Several people have caught someone pulling up Matayo signs and replacing them with Holt signs, and also using Matayo's fence posts. This has been happening all over NWA. That is a sin and also a crime. Unless these people would like to be all over the news, then I advise them to stop.

If this is not a hoax then my guess is that Doug did not tell the property owner that he was running against Jim. When they found out, they took his sign down and put up a Holt sign.

That would be a great reason if several people hadn't seen it happen. They are also using Matayo fence posts. That is stealing. Other business owners that have been talked to said that one night they left and Matayo's sign was out and the next morning it was gone and Holt's was there. They are now taking down the Holt signs and putting Matayo's back.

Hey anonymous slimer:

The Holt campaign is not doing what you are accusing us of. If you have any evidence GO TO THE POLICE AND THE MEDIA. Until then, keep your garbage off this blog. Matayo's partisans make one false accusation after another against Jim and it is getting REALLY tiresome.

Jim Holt has been putting up signs for years and there has NEVER been an accusation like this from any of his opponents. Only the Matayo camp starts hallucinating that Jim Holt is doing all of these terrible things.

GROW UP. If you have any real evidence instead of just more anonymous libel then go to the media and the police with it. And GO AWAY from this blog until you get the courage and integrity to put your REAL NAME with some REAL EVIDENCE on this guano you keep throwing out about Jim.

Got it?

The only proof I need is that this has happened to a family member. One night their Matayo sign was in their yard and the next morning it was gone and replaced by a Holt sign. If that wasn't done by the Holt camp, then who did it? I also heard from several businesses that said the same thing. Do you think it's just a coincidence? I don't. If this was being done to Holt, you would be screaming, and you know it. It's dirty and it has to stop.

What is dirty and needs to stop is the constant stream of false accusations against Jim Holt.

I'll move the whole blog to another format until May 23rd if that is what it takes to slow your libel.

These are not false accusations. I really don't think you want security camera footage sent to the press. Would this guy really like to be on Jay Leno like the last idiot that pulled a stunt like this? All we're asking is for this to stop. There are now several business with one of their cameras pointed directly to their Matayo signs. We already have footage from a property owner. Let's see how much more we can get.

Yes, that's what we want to do...take down Matayo signs and put up Holt signs. That makes sense, why??

The original post is an awesome article. I was hoping to read some comments at the end. Unfortunately, it has been hijacked, as happens to most of the threads on this site.

Maybe the moderator should start yanking all posts that get off topic. After all, there's an archive that contains just about everything in the saboteurs' bag of tricks. If people are interested, they can read that dung all they want. But I've already heard it all, and I am tired of it.
