Republican Assembly Endorses Holt, others.

The Arkansas Republican Assembly is a group of conservative county committee members who, unlike county committees, can make endorsements in primaries. They have released their endorsements. As Jim's Campaign Director, I am very pleased that we were able to meet their stringent requirement of getting two thirds of the delegates support in a three way race. It tracks closely with the polling data for Republican voters as a whole, once you consider this is an informed group that has no undecideds.

REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY ENDORSES CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATES

In an attempt to promote conservative principles, delegates of the Arkansas Republican Assembly (ARRA) announced today their endorsement of Asa Hutchinson, Jim Holt, Gunner Delay, Jim Lagrone, Andy Mayberry, and John Boozman. Jim Holt is opposed by two other Republican candidates in the Tuesday, May 23 primary election.

Candidates or their representatives spoke to the delegates and answered their questions Saturday, April 8 at the ARRA sponsored the Special Convention in Russellville. Endorsement by the ARRA required a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote by the twenty-five delegates present.

Delegates were given opportunity to express support for or opposition to a candidate prior to the vote. Some candidates were not endorsed because they were not well known to the delegates.

The Arkansas Republican Assembly was chartered August 9, 1997 under the National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA) which has a 70 year history of success as a true grassroots organization. The NFRA and the ARRA are dedicated to working within the Republican Party to promote active participation of our members toward the endorsement, support and election of conservative Republican candidates.

ARRA is presently chartering county chapters and serving as a gathering point for fiscal and social conservatives. More information can be found at http://ar.gopwing.com/.

Not good news for Banks or Matayo, but they are done anyway. The real trouble in this may be for Tom Formicola. They endorsed Andy Mayberry over him.

From what I heard, Peggy Jefferies promised not to endorse anyone. Yet another broken promise...

Did they endorse Jim Bob Duggar or any other legislative candidates?

Way to go, Jim Holt! Republicans prefer Holt 2:1 over the other brands!

Err, at LEAST 2:1 (the exact vote wasn't given in the article).

Let's see: the vote was Holt 20, Banks 5, Matayo 0. That's what I hear anyway.
Yes, big suprise here: Holtites endorse Holt. A few more level headed Republicans endorse Banks. Matayo gets nothing. Why is Matayo will in the race?

This was a meeting to endorse state wide and congressional candidates only. They did not get into Jim Bob's race or any other state legislative race, even though some of the delegates were former state legislators.

Based on the survey USA Poll, the Republican Assembly is not "Holtites", it is just a reflection of Republican voters as a whole. The poll of the grassroots and the poll of this informed subset of county committee people matches up nicely.

The two people in charge of tabulating the vote of people of utmost integrity. They destroyed the ballots when done. I would not trust any leaks about the actual numbers, the only thing you can count on is that Holt got at least 2/3rds of the vote in a three way race.

Yes, Holt did. I'm not counting on "leaks." I was there.

Easy why Matayo got nothing. Holt people HATE Matayo people, and they're not afraid to show it. Why else would a Reublican legislature who gets a lot done for Republican causes get nothing over moderate candidate who hasn't really done nothing at all?

Mark Moore, again I remind you that you are, as your name tag notes, a Moderator. Let the debate take place. You downgrade you own site by being a aggresive Holt supporter.

Let me worry about what I am doing to this site (which actually I share with a number of others who rarely post).

I want to play too.

Holt sweeping this endorsement was a terrible sign for Banks and Matayo.

Actually, it's really not that bad of a sign. Why would they want extremist backing - i.e. people who believe the FAR right of our party - i.e. these people didn't tell thier wives they'd be "MOderatly faithful" on their wedding day.
