"Sign Gate" Mystery Solved!

Doug Matayo and Drew Griffin signs sit in a collection pile for improperly placed signs at the Arkansas Highway Department's facility on Highway 112 near Fayetteville. This is one of many such area facilities where improperly displayed signs are deposited.

Recently the Holt Campaign has had to endure hysterical claims from supporters of Representative Doug Matayo that Holt supporters had been stealing signs . Of course, the Holt campaign did not take down Matayo's signs and replace them with their own. We do think we know who took down the Matayo signs though. These photos were taken today. We think if the Matayo campaign will check at the four Arkansas Highway Department facilities in the area they will find their missing signs.

Here is an example of improper sign placement. This is at an insurance agency in Bentonville. The sign is closer to the road than the telephone poles. Any sign closer to the road than the telephone poles is considered in the public easement and is removed by state highway department personnel. Will this be the next sign that they claim is "stolen by Holt supporters" once Highway Department Personnel make a sweep through the area?

There is a small piece of property in Siloam that looks like it would belong to the city, but it does not. It is private property owned by a very close friend of the Matayo family. A few days ago there was a Matayo sign on that property. Now there is a Holt sign in the exact spot where the Matayo sign stood. Holt's sign will be pulled ASAP.

This also happened to a family member. They are a very wealthy family with security cameras all over their property. One night Matayo's sign was there, and the next morning a Holt sign was in it's place. They have a large amount of property and part of it could also look like it's not privately owned. This sign has already been pulled. Several businesses have reported the same thing happening to them. They have also pulled the Holt signs and the Matayo signs are being put back. They also have security cameras.

I also saw a pile of Holt signs under the Matayo and Griffin signs that you showed. I love how you tried to hide that. So what is the reason for the Holt signs being put up in the exact same spot where the Matayo signs were? EVERYONE has signs picked up by the highway department. It's part of it. Holt has plenty there also. Quit trying to act like a know-it-all and stop defending what is really going on. You've been caught. Businesses have caught you. Several other people have caught you. The signs aren't just gone, they have been replaced with Holt signs. The businesses owners have all said it was not done with permission. That has been explained to you. Apparantly you do not care when one of your own breaks the law. I'm glad that no one else has pulled a stunt like this.

Maybe the highway department can also find a way to help Holt clean up his campaign. Everyone else around him seems to want to keep it dirty.

Wow! I didn't know the Highway Department was in the business of putting up a Holt sign after removing the Matayo sign. How much do you have to pay them to do that? That's a really good idea. The other candidates might have to try that also.

Paul Graham strikes again. You would think that he would get a life...Maybe this is his life's work. Who knows...I feel sorry for his family. A man filled with so much hate couldn't be a good husband and father...Think about it.

You guys have gone to great lenght to to try and cover up your illegal activities. We have been waiting to see how many lies you would be willing to tell. One thing you don't realize is that these fence post have a special mark on them, to a track this kind of activity. You have been caught in another lie.

You sure are going to great lengths to prove your innocence. People only do that because they are taking a lot of heat from everyone who thinks they are GUITLY. Knock it off before you suffer any more embarrassment.

Hey--the highway department doesn't remove fence posts--only signs. People who take fence posts are people who can't afford to buy their own.

You're wrong--they do remove the posts as well. Get a clue, and stop showing everyone how obsessed you are with sliming a good man.

Mark you and Bill Clinton have a lot in common. If you can't clean up all of the filth and slime that is getting generated by the Holt Camp, you will loose you base. Please tell me why I hear from you and others that Jim Holt is the kind of man everyone should vote for and yet what is see is something very different. I will judge Jim Holt by the fruit he bears.

You are in complete denial. There was not a Holt sign in the stack. If there was, WE NEVER ACCUSED ANYONE OF STEALING IT.

And the highway department DOES take the posts. Go to this link http://www.jimholt.us/matayo/matayosignSM2.jpg and you can see the signs from another angle. Posts are clearly sticking out from two of the signs.

Go get your signs and fence posts, and find your "special mark". Then have the integrity to apologize in your own name for the slime you threw anonymously.

You don't give any names. You just say "businesses". I think bigfoot did it. They never can get a good photo of him either.

Go to that link man, those are not Holt signs. They have an "S" in the name. It is John Woods or something.

So I and Clinton have a lot in common do we? I resigned my commision as a naval officer because I refused to serve with him as my Commander and Chief.

I think YOU and Clinton have a lot in common. Words mean whatever you want them to mean at that moment. Meaningful communication is impossible with people like you and Bill Clinton, because the definition of "is" keeps changing.

Only in you and Bill Clinton's world could YOU accuse US of stealing then claim WE were throwing "filth and slime" simply by defending ourself from your anonymous and false accusations.

Mark this is your site and you love Jim Holt. Do you think that you have a confict of intrests. I do, and some of the junk you say makes me not only, not like you, but I am now activly suppporting your oposition. Maybe you should call me Paul, but I am not. I was in New York last year and the convention went great. I stoped by Jim Holt's party but the place was empty. I think You and Jim will get beat good again.

Later Mark Holt.

Ive been fighting the sign thing for years down here in the 4th , They take the signs and the posts at least you guys have the option of getting them back here they are disposed of rather quickly that is if they are republican

Signgate... that reminds me, Drew you need to go down to Gillett and get that huge sign up near the Rice Paddy Motel. What did you use for anchors? rebar. But in the same nature of things, stop by the house and we can have coffee.

I wish I could go to the highway deparment and get the posts with the markings on them. That would be impossible because the posts are now attached to Jim Holt's signs in Siloam and other areas. You don't listen to anything. You only try to make excuses. Does that mean Jim Holt went to the highway department to steal some posts? Maybe he thought they were there for anyone to take. Maybe that explains why his signs are now attached to someone else's fence posts. He couldn't afford to buy his own so he went to the highway department to "borrow" some. Now it makes sense. And then somehow he knew where Matayo's signs were pulled by the highway department and placed his signs in the exact same spot. I wonder why the highway department hasn't pulled those? And I wonder why the highway department only pulled the Matayo signs and not the one that was right next to his, but closer to the highway?

A possible reason is that your whole story is baloney. I go to this url

http://www.jimholt.us/matayo/matayosignSM2.jpg

and I see the posts still attached to the Matayo signs.

It really is funny watching you guys trying to talk your way out of this lie. You can't expect someone who is willing to break the law, to then turn around and tell the truth about it. It's ok. We forgive you anyway.

You have to be the most ridiculous and moronic "contributor" to a blog that I've ever seen. You trash this and several other blogs over your wild conspiracy theories, you don't even ask to have your own thread (no, Mark probably wouldn't have given you one here, but other blogs might have), but you rudely spam multiple threads on mulitple sites. EVERYONE, even the bloggers on the other sites, has tried to reason with you on this, but nothing suffices for you and Paul Graham. It's your latest non-issue issue. You simply must continue your jihad on Jim Holt. I CANNOT WAIT until you two, and your buddy Doug, are out of "business" in May.

Doug's not her buddy--they're "related" (sort of).

This is a caution from your humble moderator. Please lay off the PERSONAL ATTACKS on Paul Graham or anyone else by name. Talking about their family or what type of husband they are is out of bounds. We want this to be about the facts and the issues relevant to this campaign. I would not even have to have this thread if other threads had not been spammed with this story. I also don't think Paul Graham is the one posting these comments. Let's try to elevate the discussion, and hopefully move on to other topics.

I do not want to have an ariticle-only blog. I want comments- but not this kind.

Whatever, JP Graham--Dr. Jeckyl. Most the time you're on here you personally attack Holt and Mark using as "anonymous." Just a coincidence that you post the first reply under your real name in less than five minutes after Mark sticks up for you?

I like the new look. Let's talk about the issues. Jim Holts has some support from a select group, but I still don't think that he can work well with others to pass laws. He gets no help from the Dems and little help from he own party. Shouldn't you support someone who can get the votes to win. This is a statewide election after all.

PS: Healthy discussion only please

"but I still don't think that he can work well with others to pass laws. He gets no help "

too much like "plays well with others" Thats what I think ever time I see this comment. Someone has to be the guy who sticks by his principles. If he is right then his input will do us all more good. Could even cause the bridgebuilders to say " I wish I would have done that". In the Military we called this type of person a leader.

The thing that bothers me about the poll numbers is that Holt has lost ground since his last primary. Didn't he win then by 70%?

Ha ha ha! You slimers are absolutely a thing of bewilderment!

22% undecided, dude. With about a 5% margin of error. Think about it.

5.2% is the cieling for margin of error before a poll is considered irrelivent. Looks like it's almost there now.
So what I keep reading is that 353 (around there anyway) people were polled out of the thousands that will vote in May. That's not a very good poll - especially if 55,000+ get out and vote.
Another thing too: if polls are actually to be believed, then Kerry would be sitting pretty in the Oval office as we write on here and Iraq would be in the hands of yet another tyrant.
