Halter & Hastert's Responsibility on Porn compared

Halter and Hastert Compared in Letter to Editor
Bill Halter for Lt. Governor and Speaker of the US House, Dennis Hastert

Email sent out by Women's Action Group

This is the way letter came to us; very slightly different version was printed (see link below for version in the Democrat Gazette)

I think people in Arkansas need to analyze Bill Halter for Arkansas Lt. Governor's  connection to porn and the call for US House Speaker Dennis Hastert to step down.  Some people claim Hastert wasn't responsible in his oversight of  Republican Mark  Foley – a Republican Representative for 20 years who wrote scandalous sex messages to pages.

Mark Foley  has resigned his position - as he should.  However, Bill Halter was on the board of Akamai, a company that pumped porn (touted as the "web's youngest teen girls" in sex acts)  and online gambling sites into a number of universities until the Boston Globe reported on these moral and possible illegal actions.

Akamai operates  a global network of more than 12,000 servers and 1,100 networks in the US and 65 countries.   That's a lot of porn!  Then Halter sells Akamai stock to finance his campaign in Arkansas and is awarded the Democratic  nomination for Lt. Governor.   Liberals think US Speaker Dennis Hastert should step down for neglecting his responsibility, but the media  won't even talk about Halter's connection to porn, much less  his  responsibilities as a Board member of  Akamai.

It was reported in December,  2002, that Akamai, on whose Board Bill Halter sat," is no longer seeking business from porn or gambling sites and is not renewing contracts with them as they expire."  Akamai PHASED out the porn rather than just stopping it.
If Halter  were a Republican, he would be history already - just like Mark Foley.

I know Kay Williams and she is a partisan hack. She uses the same failed logic that Mark has used. If Hastert covered up a pedophile scandal he should be punished soon after he resigns from Congress but just because YOU don't like pornography doesn't make it illegal like pedophilia. I think all televangilists are scum bags and should be drawn and quartered but that doesn't mean the law agrees with me. If you don't like Bill Halter then don't vote for him but don't compare him to a man who conspired to keep a pedophile in office. Excuse me, I have to get back to my Barely Legal magazine.

To Rob-Star. Where do you think pedophiles come from? I bet you won't find one pedophile anywhere that isn't into porn. And Halter's company pumped porn all over the nation and into colleges and high schools. So who does the most damage, one person who sent porn messages to a limited number of pages or one person or a board member who allowed porn to be sent to millions, including high schools, not to mention that the AVN awards for porn movies was the largest webcast in history made possible by Halter's company. That's a lot of porn.

Go read the
links on the letter. I bet you didn't even do that; you just closed your mind without even reading it. Are you not aware that numerous adults hooked on porn make their children watch pornography to program them for the incestial pedophile abuse. An abuse counselor shared this at a workshop and said there were so many chidlren being abused there were not enough homes to put them in. Porn is the root of that.

Democrats always want a double standard, one for them and one for Republicans.

Rob "the youngest teenage girls on the net" implies to me that they used teens from other places where the age of consent is not up to our standards. That means Halter's company was exploiting people YOUNGER than Foley.

Give it up, Rob. Halter is sleazy. We don't defend Foley, why do you want to defend Halter? Foley did it from personal weakness, Halter's company did it for money. Which is worse?

Man is this blog and Mark Moore desperate.

What part of Bill Halter put an end to Akamai's practices don't you understand?

Oh, is that Bill Halter's story on this today? Last Spring the story was that first he heard of it was when the executives told him that THEY had decided to "phase out" the relationships.

After the debate he told a different story. He defended the company's practice, implying that he might not agree with the execs decision.

It is kinda like when he wants to take credit for his part in "balancing the federal budget" at OMB, or "Saving social security" during his 67 as acting director.

What kind of idiot thinks porn actually creates pedophiles? Pedophiles are created out of either sexual repression from their parents or sexual abuse (usually from their parents or family members). So using your logic, wouldn't it be the best thing for this country if we just got rid of all the parents?

By the way anonymous,

I don't think I have ever met ANYONE who isn't in to porn in some form or fashion.

"what kind of idiot thinks porn actually creates...."

Lot's of experts and criminals alike note the connection between porn and sex crimes.

Lots of experts agree on the connection between guns and violent crime so should we get rid of guns too? How about screwdrivers and knives? Safety from bad people can never be attained no matter how many freedoms you take away from the rest of us.

Bad analogy. There are legitimate uses for guns. Porn is never constructive.

It was a perfect analogy because it highlights the absurdity of your argument and porn is very constructive for some. Moderation is the key for consumption of any product whether it be porn or religion.

Halter didn't actually try to molest or seduce anyone. I would say Foley is 100 times worse than he is.
