Showdown on Gay Foster Parenting Bill
****UPDATE***
The sponsor of the motion asked that it be put off until Monday. He may not have the 67 votes and is hoping some of the legislatures go home this weekend, pray about it and talk to their pastors, and then come make the right decision on Monday.

Rep. Frank Glidewell has a motion to take HB 959 out of the committee process and straight to the house floor for a vote. The vote is today. The rules permit bills to bypass the committee process on a two-thirds vote.
This does not "violate the integrity of the committee process", as some have claimed, but rather is a part of it. It is a check and a balance to safeguard against an abuse of the committee process- as was done here by House Speaker Benny Petrus and Govenor Mike Beebe. It is widely believed that they put the bill into a committee controlled by liberals for the specific purpose of bottling up a bill that would otherwise pass. There is your "violation of the integrity of the committee process" right there. It is supposed to be used to give bills a fair hearing by legislators who are experts on the subject in the bill, not used as a political tool to sink bills that a Governor does not want to sign even though the voters want it.
Much silly noise has been made of the "unconstitutionality" of the bill because one, count 'em, one judge on the state supreme court said in a concurrent opinion that is was "unconstitutional" to ban homosexuals from using the power of the state to gain access to children through foster parenting or adoption. It is bad enough that the ledge lets the full court push them around like we only have one branch of government. "Backing down" before the full court has even given them anything to back down too would be the height of fecklessness. Has the ledge so lost it's intestinal fortitude that they refuse to protect children out of fear of what one extremist liberal judge has said? We will see today.

Neither acts are a violation of the committee process. They are both acceptable maneuvers. Both sides have used each measure throughout the years.
Arkansas has an extremist liberal judge on its supreme court?
I knew while he was campaigning that Both Ways Beebe was lying (after all, he IS a Democrat). He was talking more conservative than he actually is. The real truth is that he's as big a socialist as they come!

C'mon guy, artful rants even against me, are OK. Crude language is not.
Somewhere in the last few years we (conservatives) lost the battle against the liberals.
10,20, maybe even 5 years ago this would have breezed through with no problems.
The libs turned the tide. I don't know when, were, or how but the libs are winning. Maybe it was the media with a homosexual on every TV show. Kids have grown up believing that "Will and Grace" is actually how a homosexual lifestyles is.
Maybe it was our fault (conservatives) for sitting back and allowing this notion that you a born homosexual to take hold.
It's 2007 and a Marine General can't even say that homosexuality is immoral in this country. It’s 2007 and the Catholic Church is covering up for disgusting pedophiles. It 2007 and there are churches in Arkansas that condone and bless homosexual marriage.
The battle is over and we lost.
This bill will fail Monday and Mike Beebe and the rest of the liberal Democrats will still campaign as conservatives and slowly take our state away from us.
Are you guys going to do a post on Jon Woods' illegal immigration bill? That thing rocks!!
I agree, 10:59. Arkansas was lied to last year during the campaigns. And speaking of churches that still condone the homo lifestyle and still marry gays and lesbians, one of them that does so is Vic Snyder's wife's church. I recently read a sermon she "preached" on homosexuality and this lady has many screws loose. She obviously does NOT read the same Bible I do that plainly states that homosexuality is a sin and is an abomination to God. As far as I'm concerned, she's a false prophet. She even preached a sermon saying that Christianity was not the only way to God! This should tell you how wacked out she is.
Mark what are your thoughts on th comments left by 10:59?
Here are two questions that I would like answered by those of you who support Womack's bill banning gays and co-habiting straights from adopting or foster parenting:
Should Muslims and Hindus be allowed to adopt or foster parent in Arkansas?
What about athiests?
On 10:59. The leaders of our movement need to change the way they are doing business. My last post on Dobson speaks to that.
Maybe we are beaten, but I am not going to live like it. I hope 10:59 doens't mind to much if I keep fighting anyway.
I tell you what, if you want my real answer, I want you to pop in the DVD "The Return of the King", the last of the Lord of the Rings movie. Watch it from about scene 28, the seige of Gondor, until Theoden says "Make safe the city", you can skip the scenes with Gollum and Frodo.
You look at the odds and it may look hopeless, but you ride on, with that fire in your eyes, just in case its not- just in case you still have a chance to keep the flame of freedom alive. Civilization is under seige, but I struggle on for that morning where we hear horns on the hill.
That's my answer.
12:35
Muslims? Gotta make sure they don't want them just to have someone to strap bombs to.
Fight Mark. By all means keep fighting.
I am just tired.
