Huckabee Gifts and Appointments
Article here goes over much of the history of Huckabee's gift-getting stories. Most eye-popping stat: His gift haul for one year topped $112,000.00, about double his 67K salary as Governor.

Mark,
I have to ask; Did you read this article in it's entirety?
The substance of the article(albeit halfway thru) practically exonerates him of any wrongdoing.
This is another fine example of an old media trick.... Use a flashy, incriminating headline then bury the truth far enough in the story that most won't get that far.
Come on, I know there are some Huck-A-Haters out there... read this column & tell me I'm wrong....
The substance of the article is summed up in the paragraph where it said that the ethics commission found Huckabee guilty of two counts of violations, one of which still stands. That is not exoneration.
The bulk of the article interviews the donors/appointees- not exactly unbiased sources for what happened. But I think the larger principle here is similar to the one that says government officials are better off not taking gifts from lobbyists- not every gift results in corruption, but nearly every gift is a temptation to corruption. Taking so much stuff from some of his constituents is naturally going to raise questions about Huckabee's objectivity, and rightly so. He's not above criticism because he wants to be President, on the contrary he should expect and welcome scrutiny. In a healthy society, the leaders naturally would be held to a higher standard.
