Letter To Editor on Illegality of Illegal Aliens Attending College

In Arkansas Democrat Gazette, August 5, 08 (See link below)

Emphasis added

Laura Kellams, in a recent news story, stated," It's just a question of how much the students should pay to attend, not whether they can attend. Higher Education officials say no law requires colleges and universities to verify students' legal status for admission."

Kellams' statements could be propaganda. She quoted a Department of Homeland Security statement that it "does not require any school to determine a student's status,"but she doesn't give the rest of the story. According to Internet blogs, the U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency's Pat Reilly said that the only way foreign nationals can attend college in the United States legally is through the agency's International Student Exchange and Visitors Program.

Reilly explained why they don't go after the illegal aliens in colleges: The agency is more worried about enforcing immigration law in the workplace because it's the prospect of jobs that lures immigrants to the country illegally in the first place.

In 8 U. S. C. Section 1621, postsecondary education is listed as one of the state and local benefits for which illegal aliens are not eligible. Then why shouldn't the question be whether illegal aliens can attend college in Arkansas ?

This is a question numerous citizens should ask our governor since Mike Beebe was quoted by The Associated Press as saying," If you don't like the law, you try to change it in the way this country was set up and designed to change the law."

Remember when Beebe hinted that Arkansas universities should ask the citizenship status of their student applicants? That was pure posturing to minimize support for the Secure Arkansas initiative, which just barely failed to get enough signatures.

Now that the threat has passed, the Arkansas Open Borders lobby is back to pushing in-state tuition and scholarships for illegals.

Why pay for propaganda? Why subscribe to the Democrat Gazette?

Wow, that is a strong letter from D. Hutchinson. Most office holders are too PC to raise the specter of diseases from illegal aliens. It is one of globalization's hidden costs.

Re: Donna Hutchinson's letter,
What a bunch of bleeding heart cr@p! That's awfully nice of her to ignore the will of her constituents because she thinks they're mean spirited.

Republicans and Democrats both SUCK.

if the illegals are really causing as much trouble as they say and are technically foreign invaders then why not shoot them on sight?

Are you reading the same letter I am?

Apparently not.

Aside from contagious diseases and "criminal records" she essentially has no problem with illegal immigration. After all, by her reasoning "illegal immigrants" stole America from her people and transformed it into a wonderful nation.

Gee, everyday I see what a wonderful nation is being established by the Mexican invaders.

I took it a different way- you let too many illegal aliens in and you wind up like the Indians. You lose your country.

You may have taken it that way but that is not what was written. She doesn't complain about the Indians losing their country to the Europeans but the exact opposite:

"Hey, I'm not complaining - they established a wonderful nation. We shouldn't consider ourselves in anyway superior to those crossing our borders now."

She thinks it was great! But...

"However, there is a dark side to illegal immigration. I wish it didn't exist, but it does. Contagious diseases."

If the disease problem didn't exist then Hutchinson sees no problemo because the illegals are simply continuing to build the North American utopia just as the Europeans have:

"I ask those crossing our borders to please guarantee they aren't bringing a highly contagious and deadly disease to our nation."

Notice Hutchinson makse no distinction between legal and illegal only diseased and disease free.

Read the whole thing again but this time look for the Clinton-esque verbage.

There are illegals in Arkansas with TB and other contagious diseases. They're human beings so we care for them. -Donna Hutchinson

What?? She's apparently advocating the current policy of bankrupting our hospitals (and our taxpayers) by forcing them to provide free medical care to illegals. What a compassionate conservative!

I'd say Hutchinson's letter creates more questions concerning her policy on illegal immigration than it answers.

Not that it matters. She's as good as re-elected. She had no challenger in the primary, and she has no challenger in the general election. Write in your favorite protest vote, it makes no difference.

What a great political system we have with the DemoPublicans/Republicrats!
