The Benchmark exams are only used by Arkansas and no other state(s). The results of those exams cannot be compared to results from same-level students across the country. While some improvement is better than none, as you say, the Benchmarks are basically a tool for measuring progress forward and nothing more. They are designed only to determine basic learning at certain grade levels (which is essentially to find out whether the teacher did his/her job), and not to enhance intelligence, instill critical/logical thinking, or improve performance.
