If you believe the media and politicians we are turning the corner to a better economy. I personally have never been this worried about keeping or finding work. The business I am in is still very slow. The company I work for told me this year looks to be slower than last year. That isn't a good sign. People need to be getting debt free if at all possible.
Whirlpool is heading to Mexico costing thousands of jobs. NAFTA has cost this country dearly in job losses. The average income for Whirlpool workers is $18 per hour and they will pay $3 per hour in Mexico. We can't compete with that unless we are willing to live in a cardboard box.
