Sunday Surprise to Grow FedGov by Unanimous Consent

This time it was the so-called "food safety bill" that will feed the FDA monster until it controls even small family farms with sales under a million dollars a year. Monsanto and ADM must be proud of their Senators!

So is your local farmer's market now a federal issue? Are you not capable of smelling your own food for spoilage without federal oversight? Limited government types, if you place 100% of your chips on the GOP in 2012, you are Charlie Brown gullible. They don't represent you, and they won't change unless you make yourself some place else to go. Don't wait until you can no longer remain in denial that you have been betrayed again, because then its too late to find another option. Start building one now.

I think after last weeks pork spending tax bill that passed, thanks to both sides of the isle, its obvious that there isn't 5 cents worth of difference between the democrats and republicans.

Just wait until the next tax vote comes up in 2012. It'll me even more disgusting pork, and the GOP will say they had no choice if they wanted to make the cuts "permanent," etc.

We can all see the game, and the Republicans' endless excuses for why they grow government along with their colleagues in the Dem party.

Rick, I disagree - there IS a difference between the parties, but the problem is both are addicted to spending. If Repubs weren't there in sufficient numbers, we would be in full socialist operating mode. Yes, we're partly to that point now, and if Repubs forget from whence they came, we'll get there for sure. Right now, though, Repubs control the brakes - and, hopefully, that's enough to prevent a wreck. Come January, however, they'll partly control the accelerator, too. Time will tell if they can handle that better than they did from 1994-2006.

RockThisTown, I agree both parties are addicted to spending and it won't stop until the economy collapses. To say the republicans aren't socialist isn't a factual statement. Both parties have their pet socialist projects. Take a look at the organizations W. Bush started in his administration. Homeland Security is the first that comes to mind. I do agree that the republicans are the lesser of the two evils, but its not by much.

But the steering wheel never changes directions.

The steering wheel not changing directions is OK . . . . as long as the vehicle isn't moving, and with the Republicans controlling the brakes, it shouldn't be.

The democrats want socialism and the republicans want corporatism. Those of us who want liberty lack a team to root for.

That's probably because you don't understand that you're the butt of this joke we call a government.

Do you mean I'M the government? You're certainly free to get off the sidelines and enter the game, that is, if you think you can do better. It's easy to criticize from the bleachers, but suiting up and going head-to-head against the other team is quite something else. There IS a difference between the parties - and yes, both are doing a poor job of reining in spending, but at least the Republicans are keeping us from going full socialist mode. And yes, I do agree we're partly there now. When you develop some substance for your argument(s), come back. Until then, stop the name-calling. . . the sure sign you've lost the argument.

Well, I suppose joining the mafia is one way to restore honor to families - that is, if you believe in honor killings to do so when necessary.
